It’s amazing how time flies and over 20 years ago, I began recording Florida Criminal Law Television. I have been very excited over the years to see the enthusiastic response from so many people for a television show I did not think would be that popular. Well, as it turns out, our most popular episode ever was a 39-second clip because this little 39-second clip you are about to see explains the legal process from A to Z when you have a brand-new case. So, let’s take a look right now.

The legal system looks like an upside-down letter Y. It begins with the law enforcement investigation, and then it goes through several different processes until it comes down usually to a point of decision. At this point of decision, a case either goes to trial or it goes to settlement. Along the way, 90 days can lapse between arrest and final conclusion, or a 175 if the case is a felony. Now, bear in mind, these timeframes can switch around in case a continuance is needed. This is just a basic primer so we are only going to cover the basics.

Now, as you can see, that covers a brand-new case and does not fit every circumstance. For example, a juvenile case. Another example would be the violation of probation, a violation of community control or something post-conviction. In any case, if you have a question about Florida Criminal Law and especially if you need high quality representation, call Sherry Jones and I and we will be happy to help you. Florida Criminal Defense Legal Group is on your side.
